Patterns: Circus Dog from Doodle Stitching: The Motif Collection

Swap sent to Good Canary - Circus Dog Softie

Circus Dog Softie embroidered by bookwormbethie from a pattern in Aimee Ray's Doodle Stitching: The Motif Collection

Here on my weekly pattern review I like to highlight embroidery patterns from books occasionally, so it was a pleasure to see bookwormbethie's Circus Dog Softie in the Embroidery pool this morning. Bookwormbethie has taken one of the many, many patterns from Aimee Ray's Doodle Stitching: The Motif Collection and turned it into a softie for a swap, you can see the other lovely baby related goodies she made for the swap on her blog here.

Besides the lovely stitching and fantastic colour choice, bookwormbethie has also shown one of the great features of The Motif Collection book, the fact that the patterns, which are all on a disc, are easily scalable. So bookwormbethie has embroidered Circus Dog to be quite large, but you could just as easily make Circus Dog as small or possibly even bigger, as your project demands.

Circus Dog is part of a whole range of circus related patterns in Doodle Stitching: The Motif Collection (and as well as the circus collection, they have fifteen other categories including fruits & veggies, space and weather - to just pick three of the categories randomly from the book). You can download two samplers using patterns from the book here at the Lark Crafts site and one of the samplers just happens to be circus themed (I think the circus elephant is adorable!).

  2. Oh that is so cute. By the way...the backstitch is so perfect. I am having trouble with mine. Do you mind telling me how big you make each stitch when you do it? Thanks!

  3. Hooray! And I am the lucky recipient! She did such a lovely and neat job stitching this, I'm happy to hear her talent has been recognized. And what an adorable pattern.
