Green Category Winner - Rainbow of Stitches Contest

The Green category of the Rainbow in Stitches Contest had many great entries and they were all so different too that I had a hard time deciding on the winner. There were a couple of photos that I kept coming back to though and especially Sarah's embroidery 'Green' had that 'Awesome-I-wish-I-thought-of-that' factor. It is stitched with a very neat satin stitch on one of my favourite fabrics ever (Katie Jump Rope by Denyse Schmidt) and I admire the minimalist approach.

What inspired your entry?
I *love* this fabric sooo much I just had to do something fun with it.

What is your favourite stitch?
Backstitch

Who or what inspires you to stitch?
Bare walls and requests from my boyfriend

How long have you been stitching and how did you get started?
I've been stitching for about 2 years now. My boyfriend asked me one day why I bought all these craftbooks and didn't "make" anything. I guess that pushed me to just go for it and not worry about failing.

Green inspirations

Ah, green. I'd have to say that as a color in nature, nothing makes me happier than green. And I love every shade of this color as well, from kelly to khakhi to sea green to chartreuse. Is green your favorite? I mean, if you had to pick one... from a rainbow... to stitch in... Not that I'm dropping any hints, or anything. As to why I might be blogging every shade of the rainbow...

Green crafting

Today I went looking for embroidered art in the pool in one of my favourite colours. I found some wonderful pieces of art. One photo is not really an embroidery, but I thought the photo of merwing's studio looked so inspiring and since it was green I had to allow it in my mosaic. And it shows a simple and good looking way of hanging your works in progress. If you want more inspiration for your craft room, there is a flickr group for this purpose as well. Happy crafting!
