Soapy portraits

walford square in stitches, originally uploaded by dropstitch.

No, nothing to do with washing your face or clothes. But embroidered portraits of some of the characters of English soap 'Eastenders'. Now, I must admit that, although I live in England, I don't think I have ever watched a single episode of this, very long-running, show.

However, I can definitely appreciate the cross-over between pop culture and stitching. Especially when the stitching is this good!

I've never seen the show but the work here is so crisp and tart (I don't know why crisp and tart ... but I'm standing by my adjectives!) that I am intrigued by each one!

  9. I love the mix of pop culture with this art form. I've dabbled in that concept myself, but solely with cross stitch. This site is inspiring me to try my hand at embroidery. Thanks for sharing such a variety of creations!

  10. I was scanning down the page and these faces just popped out at me! I'll have to show this to my friends back in Britian -- they're all East Enders addicts.
