Tell us what you think about stitchalongs on Feeling Stitchy

Feeling Stitchy - tell us what you think
Week 3 of the July Stitchalong is a bit delayed (will post it tomorrow).

In the meantime, maybe you would let us know what you think of the stitchalongs we've been doing the past few months..?

You can do so in two ways:

1: Take the poll over in the sidebar (it's only about the frequency of the stitchalongs)
2: Leave a comment with your thoughts (let us know anything that comes to mind regarding the stitchalongs.)

You're absolutely welcome to do both. Thanks! :-)

  1. i have only participated in 1 actual stitchalong, but i have greatly enjoyed seeing the results and they have certainly been a huge part of my inspiration to restart embroidering. i hope feeling stitchy keeps them coming.

  2. I really like them, this month was my first time but it was really fun and I will definitely be taking part again. I think monthly is just right. Thank you for organising them :)

  3. I haven't participated in any of the stitchalongs yet but I really love seeing the posts about them. I love to see how differently people can interpret the same pattern. :)

  4. I love the stitch alongs, I just always don't have the time to complete them. That is why I voted every 2 months. :) All though I have been saving them all up because I LOVE the designs!

  6. I haven't done one yet, but i look forward to trying one soon! I wanted to do this months, but promised some friends a couple special pieces and knew I wouldn't have time for that too.
I think monthly, or every other month is cool.

  7. I haven't actually participated in any of the stitchalongs yet. I always mean to, but something comes up!

I have done one or two other stitchalongs in the past (through Lark Crafts), and I really enjoy them. I'm getting ready to finish my last college class, so I hope after this week I will have more time to participate in fun stitchalongs. :) I think one a month is good!

  12. Love the stitch alongs and love to see the results. I've done one with you guys, so far... Sometimes time or pattern choice interfere with participation (mostly not having time). But even if it's a pattern I'd rather skip, I still love seeing it in all of its variations! Creativity at its best! :D Thanks for hosting them, I hope they stay.

  15. I pop in to see the blog daily and like seeing updates on the Stitchalongs. But more so, the reason I'd like it still to be monthly (even though a lot of work perhaps for the blogger), is because...even if it won't work for my tastes, I like seeing others' works AND at some point there is going to be some design I love or that will inspire me to work on. Trust me, there is always something, even if not a stitch challenge on here that sparks my interest. :)

  16. I love the stitchalongs even though I only participated in one. I've used the designs from May (on a teatowel)and February (on pillowcases) but didn't complete them in time.
Everyone's version is completely different and I love to see other people's interpretations.

  18. I stitched along for June but never got around to uploading my photo. I really like the stitch-a-long and while I appreciate the bizarre, edgy side of alternative contemporary embroidery, my personal preferences lean towards folk art, slightly alternative main-stream contemporary, botanical, abstract and historical styles. For example, my two favorite months were January and June. I loved seeing the results of the other 3 months though, even if they didn't match my exact tastes. Which I think is a real asset. I think it pushes me towards getting out of my comfort zone.
Another example is Sublime Stitching, I prefer Jenny's designs more than her artist series. But I love seeing what other people do and how they interpret it. So while I think it would be really cool if I fell in love with every design every month, I really like the variety and I couldn't take the time to do one every month anyhow. June was nice because there were options, but I think there were almost too many. Maybe two, max three designs but maybe group the designs as different examples on a theme. Take sea life. If March had been the octopus and then say examples of seaweed or an Aimee Ray mermaid scene I probably would have done the second choice.
I think this is a really great project, these stitch-a-longs and I really hope it keeps going.

  19. I heart the stitchalongs in a major MAJOR way. I have only had a chance to do a few, but I absolutely adore them. I am a full time student, so my time is really devoted to hitting the books, but any free time I get, I come over to Feeling Stitchy for inspiration and the monthly stitchalong. I find that if I do a stitchalong, it helps me to have something creative to do on a daily basis.

    So, thank you!

  20. I love the stitchalongs even though I haven't Participated yet. I really want to but a month is just not enough time for me. Is there any way we could overlap them? Or is that way too complicated? Oh well. I still vote every month because they are so inspiring!

  21. hi, I'm new to Feeling Stitchy and Flicker as a whole. So, I have only seen the tail end of last month's stitch a long and the beginning of this month's. part of what caught my eye and keeps me so enthralled with this site that it IS active and that it has the stitch a long and that I see people taking an interest in what others are doing even if they aren't taking part yet.

i had hoped to take part in this month, but I have so much obligation stitching I would have felt too guilty. And as I have just taken on more obligation stitching today, I don't foresee getting to join next month, but I LOVE LOVE the idea that I could join the next go around and that the next go around is only a few weeks away if that makes sense.

Getting to comment on the stitch along has made me feel like a member of the community quite quickly.

  22. I love the stitchalongs! I think it's great that you have managed to choose such variety in patterns, so that there's something of interest for everyone. What I most like about them is to see how everyone approaches a pattern differently, it's very inspiring!

  23. I think the stitchalongs are a great idea, I just haven't seen a pattern I really loved enough to squeeze into my ridiculously busy life. Maybe some more abstract or unusual designs? Anything nerdy and geeky will get me stitching too.

Also, I'd love stitchalongs that teach us new styles of embroidery -- different stitches, different cultural traditions.
