Patterns: A Bumpkin Christmas and a Giveaway!

There's still plenty of time for some Christmas stitching and I can't think of anything better than a quick break from all that shopping and partying, than to put your feet up with some festive sewing. Bumpkin has a trio of lovely patterns perfect for this time of year, there is the cute tree decorations above and two embroidery patterns.

The lovely Catherine from Bumpkin has offered the Friends for Tea pattern as a giveaway! To be in with a chance of winning it, comment below and tell us what you're stitching this Christmas. The competition closes Wednesday 19th December 1200 GMT, when a comment will be picked randomly but if you can't wait till then to get stitching and buy the Friends for Tea pattern and then happen to win it, Catherine will refund you the cost of the pattern.

  1. I've made a coffee cozy, felt gingerbread people ornaments, two fleece hot water bottle covers with differents appliques (one Sherlock, one Tardis), and I still need to sew a sunflower pillow cover for my sister.

  3. So far this Christmas Season, I have made a let it snow tea towel, an old fashioned decorated Christmas light, a tea towel with Happy Holidays on it, and I have one that I will finish with Christmas ornaments and greenery. When you have a love one in the hospital, you have to have something else to think about and keep the hands busy. A Missouri Friend.

  7. Such sweet patterns ~ love those little bunnies in the cup and tea pot ~ so darn cute!

I'm stitching up a Christmas tree scene. I'm not so sure I'll be getting it done by Christmas tho.

  8. So far I've made 3 cross stitch tree decorations. 2 are cross-stitch/beading Deb Millar stockings; my friend bought me a kit earlier in the year. Everytime I look at the stitched up stockings, I think of my dear friend who lives on the other side of the country. I think that's what I like most about stitching for Christmas; the special memories that get pulled out each year.

I'm almost finished with a cross-stitched angel tree-decoration too; it'll be mounted in a felt frame. I plan on stitching the "frame" with 3 closed sides and one open side, making it like a decorative pocket. I will then use the decoration as a special "Christmas note" holder - I will write a little note to "future me", detailing where my life is at this Christmas. I plan on stitching future Christmas decorations similarly, so that when I'm older I have little yearly time capsules of my Christmases.

  9. The little bunnies in the tea cup and tea pot are just so sweet. They would be perfect for anyone's tree. I do enjoy stitching such sweet little bunnies and birds.

  11. Yay! Those are so cute! I'm planning on whipping up a few felty-stitchy tree ornaments over the holidays and these would be an adorable addition.

Right now I'm finishing off some ornaments designed by Alicia Paulson, and also doing some fold/pin quilt-y looking ornaments. :)

  19. I have been stitching teatowels for various family members as gifts. I thought I was finished on Saturday, as I completed a lovely sublime stitiching poodle (in pink!) and then I worked out that I have one more to do. Inspiration has run low.
Once they are all completed, I am looking forward to returning to projects I want- in this case probably a cross stitch pattern- r is for run that I started in October.

  20. Those are so cute! I am handmaking everything for everyone this Christmas, so I am stitching up everything from quilts to afghans to ornaments!

  21. I love to win :D

I do some hand quilting only.

  22. I'm stitching some simple monogrammed felt tree-shaped ornaments. Keeping it simple this year, as it had to be something I could get done with a new baby and a four-year-old. :)

  23. I'm working on two tree skirts. I'm dangerously close to running out of thread. Ack!!!

  26. What cute patterns, I LOVE flight of the teacup! What am I stitching this Christmas? ALL kinds of things including some leather items for my brother, that's a first for me and some little gifts for friends and some hair clips for my niece, fun stuff!

  27. I'm stitching some felt stockings for my kids. My daughter -- Hope -- is nearly 13 and obsessed with penguins. Her stocking is turquoise with some penguins and other festive baubles. My son -- Atticus -- is two and is obsessed with Santa. His stocking is red with Santa and some candy designs. Hopefully I will finish these by Christmas? It is very hard to stitch with a rambunctious tot in one's lap! Persy Jane will be born in February and I will be starting her stocking next year.

  28. I'm working on a monsterbubbles cross stitch design, of a partridge and pear. I want to create a whole collection of partridge-in-a-pear-tree ornaments, each by a different designer, but given how slowly I cross stitch I suspect only this one will get done this year.

  30. I'm working on a sugar skull for my son's girlfriend. I don't think it will be done on time but I can finish it while vacationing in Mexico next week, where I'm sure to see sugar skull art as inspiration!
