I'd like to think of this post as an open letter to all craft and needlework stores - please stock up on all these colors! That's because I had every intention of buying the top 7 favorites and sharing them with you in a special photo shoot. The idea seemed fool-proof enough, until I arrived at my local craft store.... And lo and behold, every color in our top 7 was out of stock. Undeterred, I moved on to our top 40, and discovered with a giggle that nearly every color on that list was out of stock. That included every shade of red (including our faves 321 and 666), and although I had to expect this, not a bit of 310 black. So, craft stores, print out that list and stock up on those colors! We've got some crafting to do. :)

Stay tuned for your favorite Sublime Stitching patterns and your favorite holiday songs! :)

  1. How fun! I chose 321 because I've been using it a lot for Xmas ornaments but I wanted to say that every time I get 666 from my floss box, I hear Gregory Peck yelling "Damien!"

  2. Ha ha ha ha! I totally have that reaction to DMC 666, too! :)

To me 321 is more of a nice Christmas-y, Santa red, whereas 666 is very bold, in your face red. Omen-ish red. ;)

  3. LOL when I see my bobbin of 666 floss I always wonder if they made it red on purpose. The whole DMC numbering doesn't make a lot sense to me anyway. I think I read somewhere they are using the numbers (or at least some of them) they also used in the 19 th or early 20 th century.

  6. Love 321 - even pre-Christmas stitching. I prefer that red over 666 personally.

  8. That's funny that you couldn't find those colors at all. I have some unnumbered lots that I got as hand-me-downs that kinda look like 666 and 906, but I never use them. I always have tons of black though. That's a given. My most recent purchase consisted of dark jewel tones: 915, 154, 924 and 367. I think I could get behind the 550; it's more my style.

  9. I went to my local craft store today and bought all the colors on your list. I probably didn't need the black, and I think I already have both of those reds in my box, but I bought them anyway. And they all look amazing together in a big pile! I love the blues and the green! Thanks for the intro to some new colors!
