Friday Instagram Finds No. 92 with Sam Eldridge

Friday Instagram Finds No 92 with Sam Eldridge, a Feeling Stitchy feature by Amy Byrne

Hello Stitchy Friends! Well - I tried something new with Feeling Stitchy Fridays, but I just don't think it quite worked out, so let's go back to something that works - Friday Instagram Finds!

Today we're taking a look at Sam Eldridge whose Instagram feed is a colorful and visually appealing treat for your eyes. Sam's botanicals are intricate and beautiful thread paintings. She also paints and creates embroidered patches. You can also find her on Etsy at SamEldridgeArt and she's competing in the Etsy Small Business Contest. Here are a couple of my favorites from her feed.

Feeling Stitchy Friday with Regena Florenti

Regena Florenti @the_daily_stitcher
Regena Florenti @the_daily_stitcher on Instagram is participating in 1 Year of Stitches, a project started by Hannah Claire Somerville. Regena has been stitching this 14" hoop since the first of the year, and I love what's she's done. The miniature motifs she's stitched will be a keepsake for her for years to come. You can also find her on her blog, The Distracted Domestic.

And now a message from Amy...
"The best laid plans of mice and men" as the (modified) line from Robert Burns goes. I had grand plans for Feeling Stitchy Fridays where I would tease you throughout the week with snippets of that week's featured needle artist all to a big buildup on Friday. The only thing missing from that plan was time. So until I can figure out how to get more time in the day :) I'll continue to post our featured needle artist on Fridays.

March 20th was my two year anniversary writing for Feeling Stitchy! I have met so many lovely people from around the world, discovered needle artists I might not have otherwise seen, had the opportunity to sample great products, and made a lovely friend in the Feeling Stitchy Editor, Floresita.

Friday Instagram Finds No. 91 with Sheryl Kessler

Happy Friday! I know I said that last week was the last Friday Instagram Finds, but life got away from me, and I didn't have time to do what I wanted to this week. Do you ever feel like maybe you've bitten off more than you can chew? That's me right now :)

Let's take a look at Sheryl Kessler from the Instagram account @fairisle37 ! Sheryl creates beautiful hand stitched fabric collage art. Sheryl tags her pieces with #slowstitching, which according to the website The Slow Stitching Movement is:

The Slow Stitching Movement is an illuminating revolution within the stitching and fiber art  industry, launched by international quilting personality Mark Lipinski. Modeled after the international Slow Food movement, The Slow Stitching Movement is open to all fiber and needle artists and will prepare you for a higher form of creativity and important work in the needle and fiber arts, be it quilting, knitting, crochet, tatting, embroidery, rug hooking, weaving, needlepoint, cross stitch, etc.
I love this movement, and love what Sheryl has done because of it! The variety of stitches and layers of fabrics that Sheryl uses create textured pieces with depth. Here are some of my favorites from Sheryl's Instagram.

Friday Instagram Finds No. 90 with Tweet and Hoot

Photos by @tweetandhoot

Hi my stitchy friends! Well...today is the last Friday Instagram Finds. But don't be sad! I have something SO FUN in store for you! Buuuttt....you'll have to wait until next week to read the details :)

Let's take a look at @tweetandhoot. Katie creates the best pop culture-inspired hand embroidery! While I thoroughly enjoy her work, some of our more sensitive readers might be offended by some of the phrases in her Instagram feed. One of the things I really like about Katie's feed is that she shows us her works in progress. I think it's so cool when artists show us their work from beginning to end. You can buy Katie's embroidery in her Etsy shop Tweet and Hoot. Let's take a look at some of my favorite pictures from her Instagram feed.

Check out some of my favorites below, and then head over to Anna's Instagram account @errant_hart.

March 20, 2017 is the two year anniversary of Friday Instagram Finds - woo hoo! I'm going to switch things up a little bit, so you might want to start tagging your photos with #feelingstitchyfridays  :)

Friday Instagram Finds No. 88 with Maryke Dolls

I was looking through our #feelingstitchyig hashtag when I came across the beautiful dolls that Robyn Maryke creates. You can find her on Instagram at @marykedolls and her online shop Maryke Dolls. Robyn's handmade dolls feature recycled wool, and they are beautiful! I don't have a daughter (unless you count my three female dogs :) ), but I want one of these for myself! The Frida, in particular, is my favorite. Take a look at some of my favorite pictures, and then go check out her Instagram feed @marykedolls.

On March 20, 2017 we have our two year Friday Instagram Finds anniversary - woo hoo! I'm switching things up a bit, so you might want to start using #feelingstitchyfridays on your best needle art photos on Instagram  :)

Friday Instagram Finds No. 87 with Forest Fibers

Today we feature the hand embroidery of Jackie of @forestfibers. I love how she fills the space in the fabric with paint and lots of little stitches like those in the examples above. She goes outside the hoop with wall hangings that have beautiful meaning. Jackie is 21 years old, but definitely has an old soul. Check out some of my favorite piece below, and then check out her Instagram feed @forestfibers.

You can also purchase Jackie's art on her Etsy shop Forest Fibers Studios.

Friday Instagram Finds No. 86 with Justyna

Hello Stitchy Friends! On today's Friday Instagram Finds we feature Justyna of @nibyniebo_.  Justyna has a fun and bright style that uses hand embroidery AND polymer clay! I've never seen anyone else do this, and the results are stunning. Her clocks are so much fun.  I just love how she describes her work as "slowly crafted." In this rush around world, it's great to see someone who revels in taking her time to produce beautiful pieces of art.

You can purchase Justyna's works of art in her Etsy shop here. Take a look at some of my favorite pieces from her Instagram feed.

Happy Friday! I've been waiting for this Friday for months because I'm on my way to sunny Florida! YAY! My son and I are spending a few days visiting my parents in the Orlando area, and we have our days planned out at Disney.

Friday Instagram Finds No. 84 with Chawne Kimber

Last Saturday I went to a workshop presented by the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild (which I'm a member of), that featured Chawne Kimber leading us in hand quilting. I'm not a quilter, but I want to be, and Chawne was the perfect person to get me started. Chawne is an artist who is well-known for her social justice minded quilts. It was fascinating to listen to the meanings of the various quilts she brought and get to touch them and feel the different textures. You can find Chawne on Instagram at @cauchycomplete and on her website at Cauchy Complete. Here are some of my favorite pictures from Chawne's Instagram.

Friday Instagram Finds No. 83 with Emma Mattson

A couple of weeks ago my son sent me a screen cap of some moss. I thought it was a little weird until I tapped the picture and saw that it was hand embroidered moss in an embroidery hoop! He thought it was neat and thought I would, too. And, boy, do I!

Emma Mattson's (@emmancipationx) Instagram feed is beautiful. In addition to being a hand embroidery artist and weaver, she's a fantastic photographer. She's got a great eye and the way she frames her shots are visually appealing.
