This is lovely, isn't it?
The colour combinations is really fresh and spring-like.
Also... the stitching is pretty perfect...

Bullion Knot Inspiration
Last week I came across a couple of lovely examples of the Bullion Knot. Like these perfect Bullion Knots by CoeurdeFreesia.
And these ones by Ana Vergara are wonderful as well. The Bullion Knot is also known as the Coil Stitch or Caterpillar Stitch and you'll find this stitch often in Brazilian and Portuguese embroideries. This stitch is perfect to make flowers and roses with. This embroidery by Inger Loureiro is another great example of that
I got so inspired by these beautiful examples in the Flickr Embroidery Group that I decided to try this stitch on a boring old cardigan I had in the back of my wardrobe. Obviously I need to add more Bullion Knot Roses (and practice a bit more, it's far from perfect!) or maybe add some other stitching but I do think it's a rather lovely way to embellish an old cardigan.

Check out this video tutorial on Needlenthread.com about the Bullion Knot. It's a pretty easy stitch to learn so give it a try!

Bullion Roses

Rose bullion -you know, for making rose soup! I kid (and yes, I know it's spelled differently, mom). Just look at crafty_pants' blooming stitches. So, so pretty and sweet and boy, is that some impressive handwork. I love how she sprinkled it with French knots for little buds. Found this nice tutorial for making bullion roses for you, too!

Have any of our readers attempted the bullion stitch? These beautiful bullions make me almost want to try... There's helpful instructions and a video tutorial on Needle n' Thread if you're so inclined - view the tutorial.

deep dark scary pool
Don't go in the pool this month - unless you're into Halloween! We've caste a challenge on our members and there's some spooky halloween stitchery happening. I've done mine - but it's not in the pool this week. Here's some early posters.
She Brews is a very scary contributor with loads of halloween stitching to share. I love this stitched menu. Yummo...I'll be joining her for a bite after I finish this post.

Sunshine Creations has shared this cute little bullion stitched button. We don't see too much bullion stitch in the pool - do we?

Keep it up team! Before you know it, we'll be talking about trimming trees...
