Robert Pattinson cross-stitch

Ahem. I have previously admitted that I have a bit of Twilight-thing. However, Twilight fan or not, how could I possibly not bring this to you, stitchy friends? Cross-stitch your own Robert Pattinson, courtesy of http://www.guardian.co.uk/ and Cross Stitcher Magazine! And please, please, please, post your work to the Embroidery pool immediately, so we can have a sample for the rest of us curious peeps! :)

Visit the post, and download the PDF pattern.

Free holiday mitten pattern

Check out this free mitten pattern from oliver + s... I think it's a great idea to craft a mitten a day, and have a little one pick out the fabrics and buttons with you. Very quick and cute, and much less time-intensive than crafting all the mittens at once! Get the pattern.

Monkey bag for 26 cents

This incredibly adorable monkey bag was created by Molly Chicken for 26 cents. Okay, pence. (?) Ignoring the tricky exchange rate, that is still wonderfully cheap. This is why I love crafting.

Chart your own text

Stitchpoint has a nifty tool for charting text for embroidery and crosstitch. Simply choose your favorite from the available 6 fonts and start "typing" using the keyboard on the screen. For @, &, and other characters click on Special Characters. The buttons in the top right corner make it super easy to figure out stitches for the particular fabric you are using. Enter your thread count, number of threads stitching across, and how much space you want around the stitching. For spaces between words use the keys to the right of the Special Characters key. When you're done print. Easy peasy.

a preponderance of gnomes

from Sewsew-a-Gogo
free gnome pattern by Andrea Zuill available here

Do you ever wonder what starts a worldwide cultural trend? I do, and often - for instance, what's up with all the adorable gnomes?

Was it Amelie's charming gnome that started this whole deal? (Although I could have sworn I'd seen a travelling garden gnome before that....) Or was it the cute, perky, and occasionally annoying Travelocity gnome? I just need to know, do you guys know?

Inspiration notwithstanding, in the Flickr Embroidery pool, gnomes are here to stay:

Stitchettes Goodness

How gorgeous is this mini Stitchettes quilt? Seen on Laural's lovely blog, Thimble which I stumbled upon while surfing other people's del.icio.us links. You have my full permission to stalk my del.icio.us links, by the way... :) Anyhow, Laural's blog is beautiful, both in layout and design, and her beautiful pics and projects are sure to inspire you!

Laural's quilt is not alone - just look at this sweet Stitchettes quilt by swim notes - her work is absolutely amazing! Or this incredibly sweet pillow by wisecraft.

What are the Stitchettes? They're lovely embroidery patterns by Hillary Lang of Wee Wonderfuls.

Each season, she's cooked up charming new designs - so far there's summer, fall, and winter. Keep checking her blog as she unveils the new Spring Stitchettes. For more Stitchettes goodness, dive in the (Flickr) pool!
